The USPS Sucks

Yeah, they suck BAD. My mailman is a jerk, too.

I’ve filed yet another complaint. So, aside from the complaint I just filed, my complaints include theft of property (believe it or not, he stole my beatup and battered US flag that was rusted into the mount– I complained, and the next day it was back, rolled up neatly, on the side of my house), harrassing my pets (knocking on the glass to make my cat run from the door– we saw it from the kitchen), and improper delivery procedures (received first and last notice on Jan 16th to pickup Christmas gift containing food items sent on Dec 5). He makes us go to the post office for every single priority mail package we get– no matter how small.

I’m sick of these jerks. I’m about ready to remove my mailbox from my door and put in a forwarding to my post office box.

Check out what these pricks did to my 8×10 prints:

I HATE the USPS. My mail is crushed into my mailbox (apartment). Packages are never delivered on the weekend. I get “final notice” cards when never a first one. In the summer, I don’t receive mail for four days and then get a “box full” notice so I have to go to the Post Office to get my mail. The Post Office will not pack things. What good are they?

The post office people are as slow as molasses and have an attitude like I am inconveniencing them and disappear never to return to the counter.

I would also like to know why 99 percent of my packages look like someone stomped on them. Makes no sense.

  2. Jaime says:

Two days before Tax Day. Monday, the busiest day at the PO. One person working at the downtown Savannah PO. 25 people in line, literally out the door. Took me a half hour to pick up one stinkin’ package. Grrr… Count me among the haters.

  3. larry says:

Who funds the USPS? I work for the Government and do a good job but it HAS to be a government agency. Rudest people ever. And why so doggedly slow! I stand and watch them in line and they try to engage people into buying stamps etc and then walk away into the back room. What’s that about?

  4. Raven says:

“They deliver to everyone in the country, six days a week, for free. How stupid is that?”

Apparently not as stupid as that comment… They offer you a FREE service!!! You get what you pay for! If you dont like the service, get your bills online, print your own pictures, and stop receiving mail through a governement service!!

  5. Mike says:

Yikes. Someone didn’t think before they spoke.

Nothing about the USPS is a free service. When you receive mail, the person sending that mail paid for that service. It is not free. When the USPS comes to my house when no mail has been sent to me, that supposed “service” is being provided by the rest of the folks who conduct business with the USPS, thereby subsidizing home delivery.

Not all bills can be paid online. Likewise, I know first-hand that a lot of companies will not ship to a street address when the billing address of the payment method used to make the purchase does not match the delivery address, regardless of the method of delivery. That forces you to accept bank statements at your home even if you never receive a package through the mail.

Printing pictures at home with an inkjet/laser/dye-sub printer results in prints that are nowhere near the same quality or durability as developing images through a chemical process, which is still a valid method of photo duplication used by select printing services whose customers insist on archival quality prints, even if those images are digital in origin.

And last, USPS employees would disagree that they are a government service.

By the way, I’m glad you cited a four year old comment to target, and I am glad that you quoted me properly, even if nine punctuation marks were required to make your three-sentence point.

Thanks for the comment, and for the insult.

    :)

  6. Pete says:

I bought a cellphone on eBay and they USPS shipped to the wrong address, and it’s taking me days of complaints at the office, and USPS can’t seem to make any progress in solving my problem.

My package had a tracking information and it clearly stated that a notice was left for my package and that it arrived at it’s final destination, so I went out of the apartment to look for my package, and in the mailbox, and guess what. I didn’t get any notice at all. I went to the apartment office, and they didn’t even have the package or a notice.

So I check the tracking information online and it says that I can go to the post office to get my package, and they didn’t even have it.

So I complain to the workers, and they just say that this problem doesn’t make any sense (they’re not talking about me, but the problem). They also couldn’t find it in the inventory. They ask for my number so they can contact me, I give it to them.

So a 1-2 days later, I check the tracking information, and now it says the the item has been DELIVERED to a different and totally unrelated address.

I complain again, They ask for my number, I give it to them.

Now I think someone got my package that I paid 115 dollars for.

And so I complain again, and the Post Office supervisor says it doesn’t make any sense. He asks for my phone number, I give it to him.

I am waiting for USPS’s response and resolution.

  7. HardTruth says:

I worked for USPS for over 15 years. HERE IS THE TRUTH. USPS is an organization that is seriously run by uneducated, and/or uncaring, and/or people who know very little about conducting a business. Yes, I am speaking in concern about myself too (I finally finished school, but this is another story :) ). Obviously many of the people who work here are “either” any of the following: uneducated (not college graduates), “hate” their jobs, or victims of poor management. When you put these three elements together it is no wonder why many people experience the tedious and horrible encounters time after time. However, some USPS employees are victims of poor management try their best, but can not do much to improve anything as they soon learn because it is out of their control. Unfortunately many of us who start out victims of poor management turn into employees that end up giving up and start to careless about anything, basically poor moral becomes existent. Now imagine, when poor moral transitions into an uneducated and already disgruntled employee? Yikes, many of us have been there, including myself form the other side, having to deal with the poor customer service, and the “not my problem, nothing I can do about it attitude”.

Bottom line is most of the people who work at the USPS hate their jobs, and they have a lot of reasons to feel this way. Management is piss poor. Your package or mail is just another item “I use to”, and they see time after time, at their tedious and stressful job. YES, IT IS TRUE. THEY, AND I JUST DON’T GIVE A SHIT! PERIOD! We just go through the steps everyday, anticipating the time we can go home. I don’t want to make this rant too long for some of you, but if you want to hear more continue.

Buying insurance: If you don’t buy insurance you are putting yourself at major risk. The employees will “really” careless about your item. Trust me on this. This does not mean it won’t get delivered, however. Also, if you end up having to open a claim you are screwed! Expect a very very tedious experience. You’ll probably end up giving up. This is poor efficiency by the USPS which equals poor management. Again, we don’t give a shit about your item.

800-ASK-USPS: This number is a joke. Like talking to a machine? Seriously, when you are already agitated this is not the number you want to call. It’s useless, the automated service itself, and the live operator you get when you finally get one. Again, going back to what I explained earlier goes back to the kind of employee that will most likely answer the phone “not my problem, nothing I can do about it attitude” or “here’s what I can do for you Sir or Miss…(which is not much, and any intelligent person knows a solution normally offered by us will probably lead to another dead end, or has already been done before that did not work). Sorry guys, but I use to work the phones, and we are just there to answer the phones, and do only what management allows us to do within our control. Yes! We don’t give a shit, and we want to just hurry through the repetitive process.

Long Lines at Post Office: Again management trying to save money, and not staffing enough people. Next time you are in line, just look at our faces. We are not happy either, and if we are smiling it’s fake, and we are just trying to do the best we can. And remember, we don’t give a shit about your item. Do you have any idea how much mail we see?

Mailman: It sucks being a grown adult with basically a “paper route” for a job. Enough said, and yes it’s true, we don’t give a shit about your mail! I worked as a mailman for 5 years, it sucked. If I fold your mail and damage it…here is the truth…I have hundreds, no thousands of mail to deliver…I GUARANTEE your envelope that says “do not bend” will most likely get bent because it’s mixed with the other thousands of mail that don’t say do not bend. I’ll bend it, because I don’t have time to be careful, that’s right MOST OF US DON”T HAVE TIME TO BE CAREFUL. Also, again we don’t give a shit about your mail.

So take it from me, a 15 year ex-employee. I will be the first to admit when dealing with USPS, you are dealing with a lot of employees who hate their jobs, are uneducated, and don’t give a shit employees. Management is also a huge huge issue. They have no education to put forth, or desire to improve efficiency.

One last time…YES, it true, when it boils down to handling your mail…WE DON’T GIVE A SHIT.

  8. mark says:

USPS is so lame … i’m surprised they are still in business … if your uneducated please apply over there and im sure they will hire you …

  9. john says:

The USPS is complete bullshit, i’ve waited 3 days for a package to arrive at my house that is 20 minutes away from my town. Lame, probably will never arrive.

  10. Jennifer says:

I would pay good money to watch postal workers get burned at the stake.

  11. rowdykg says:

So I get USPS Form #3849 left on my front door and I take a look at it. The title (in bold) says “Sorry We Missed You! We Re-Deliver for You”. I’m an IT Engineer, so I’m not a complete moron (unless you ask my wife…LOL!!), but after reading and re-reading several times I can’t make heads or tails out of what the CRAP the form’s trying to communicate, so I called the local PO# on the back of the form. I asked ‘Bill’ (who was as grumpy as EVERY OTHER PO EMPLOYEE) what action needs to be taken, if any? Bill replies with one, monotoned, reply “We never re-deliver”. That’s IT??!! Nothing more, Bill???!!! You leave me a form that says “We Re-Deliver for You”, but then you clearly tell me you DON’T re-deliver???!!! WOW!!! Just sums-up the entire organization…HOLY-FRIGGN-CRAP!!! So, it sounds like I’ll be making a trip to my friendly local Colorado Springs, CO post office this afternoon…oh JOY!!! ;-)

  12. FedUp says:

Went to cash in a PO Money Order for $15 measly bucks and was told by the dipshit clerk that I needed 2 pieces of identification. My state issued ID wasn’t enough. Called USPS customer service afterwards and was told that I only need 1 piece of state issued ID. Because of that asshole clerk I have to make 2 trips the PO to cash the MO. Idiots!

  13. Idiots says:

People realize the usps isn’t govt funded!

  14. mailman chris says:

I’ve been on my current route for four years and with the post office for ten and I hear and see it all! I do admit that the post office has many problems but for the most part my fellow carriers are much like myself, dedicated trustworthy and yes even polite. I’ve attended my customers weddings, funerals, graduations and many cookouts and have made lifelong friends with many of these people. Most of my customers know me by my first name and go out of their way just to say hello. On behalf of my fellow dedicated carriers I am truly sorry for any bad experiences our customers have had with the usps. I vow to personally work harder for you and try to earn your business.

  15. stan says:

why dont you file a complaint against that guy. i went to the nearest usps store and tried to ship my package. the clerk refused to weight my package and told me to go to a different location to weight that. dang, it was 3 : 30 PM sat, and they are going to close at 4 pm, what a bullshit lazy bone clerk. well, she didnt even told me that they are going to close at 4. luckly that i did not to go to the other usps location. By the way , i just call usps and file complaint against that lazy black woman. the usps i went to is in brooklyn, 419 Mcdonald AVe.11218

  16. Failmail says:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdrqLrdYAr0 Speaking of Kensington’s 11218… I love this guy in the video.

I also live in Brooklyn and the mail service at mine and to my house is shit. I miss the carrier we used to have. Now we get mailmen too god damn lazy to climb the stairs so he stuffs everything in my neighbor’s box on the ground floor. I remember the time the regular guy went on vacation and this bitch kept putting our mail downstairs so my mom ran after her and confronted her and the lady had the nerve to give her an attitude for daring to complain. And lately stuff that should be taking a week is coming in 3 weeks. Emailing them has proven useless since they send you back to square one. Going to them in person is useless because they waste your time and find out nothing plus the guy I spoke to had some serious need for a stick of deodorant. All that money and he can’t afford to smell decent? Plus it’s like musical windows. Always two open but they open and shut their windows delaying the lines from moving. Two different people took my information they needed and after making me wait, came back with nothing to say. What’d they do? Dance in circles and skip about to pass time? One time I got a large package from them and they left a note saying no one was home. That’s why my dad who was home all day never heard the bell right? I honestly think they didn’t want to be bothered carrying items like that up the stairs so they leave the note hoping the person isn’t home anyway.

I have gotten a rare good service sometimes. The Gravesend one is half way decent but unfortunately it’s not my zoned carrier. I’ve also had times where the mail driver accepted stuff I was about to drop in a box which saved me time and the time they were nice enough to leave my package where the rain couldn’t soak it. But to counteract that one, we’ve had mail where the guy didn’t even close the mail box and left the mail sticking out in the rain. Overall it seems more so in the last couple years the USPS seems worse but maybe I never noticed it before that.

Either A: We get robots who are weather resistant and don’t sit on their ass reading/doing something when they should be delivering or B: We force USPS to charge less or something.

i deliver damn-few 1st class buisness or occassional old-way b-cards daily..what i do stuff each and every box is the trash/shit and piss’in off most THE-ADVERTISMENTS!!even gone are dept store thick cats..the P.O. is fast becoming exclusively in the trash busi…most business-to-business mail still remains intact but in 4-5 yrs time i suspect that too will wane off..most of us as regular customers and i included are constantly on the watch for our ID protection and what better way than to do all our bills and other payments via net or auto pay..even paperless monthly statements as they can be compromised into the wrong hands’as a mailman i do all my personal buisness via net or auto pay and most banking will even give breaks in fees if you choose paperless statements as will auto/home insurances it’s the new way..it’s been around since the early 90’s but not everyone was on-board now since every household has at least one computer or access to net as does a typical tv most are fast on board with this venue..the USPS is like a telephone -landline..why are you still using one??since you have a cell?? for fax’s?i don’t we quit our 20yr landline at the millenium 1-1-2000..goodbye for good hear of any 10-10 commercials or any long distance tv ads? there are none!!!!it’s inclusive of a std cellphone deal!!!the only thing anyone willneed the USPS for in just a few short yrs is to mail a cheap inside the USA package for anything that lvs the USA is NOT garranteed registered or not!!!unlike THE comp..UPS/FEDEX they will garrantee it to the door in most countries..the USPS has for yrs snubbed it’s nose at this market(parcels-packages)and focused on doorstep and daily delivery of shit-for-mail i.e. ADS!!! only now on tv are they touting the one-price shipping but do ya hear him when he says anywhere uin the US?? not garranteed beyond our borders nor can you track it even here in the USA!!! as it’s inclusive with the comp…we are way behind the 8-ball on package svc and probably will never compete directly with UPS/FEDEX WORLDWIDE..we don’t have the means nor $$ to do so..we are reliant on them daily-ads and continue to cut deals with them on postage undercutting ourselves into oblivian…with shit-for-mail no-one wants and in soem states statesmen are petitioning to enact laws of do-not-mail–another topic itself..

  25. Ty says:

Yea your right. That isn’t acceptable, USPS DOES SUCK though, I can’t beleive how long they take to deliver something. It can take up to a Month and a half! that is so wrong holy crap. But in your case its not nesesarley the USPS it is just the fact that ur mail man is an idiot…

  26. Amy says:

I am surprise that so many people complain about the USPS. Their services are so bad, I file a complain couples time due to their horriable services but end up… nothing was changing. They increase the shipping rate almost every half a year, the economic is getting so bad but they rather incease the shipping rate then fire some stupid postman. They are lazy and stupid, I can’t believe my government allow this happened in our country. Start from last year, I’ve already used online payment to pay all of my bid. If anyone need to mail a package, I will suggest them to ship it by UPS because UPS actually cheaper then USPS if the package is heavy (UPS also included tracking and insurance in the shipping fee and their service is must faster then better in a result)

  27. Jim says:

Oh my god. They absolutely suck! I ordered a plant two weeks ago and it’s still not here! It shipped last friday and the place i ordered it from is only one state away! it doesnt take almost 7 days to get here! ive been tracking it and it took 3 days to get from one town to the next town over! im so pissed off right now i want to march down there and be like ‘WHERE IS MY PLANT!?” its probably dead by now! ugh i HATE USPS!

  28. Veteran says:

I’ve been getting my meds via mail, and I used to live in a shanty house where I would always get the neighboors mail, or the mail from the previous occupants. I would always do the courteous thing and do the mail person’s job. Well I’ve moved from that shanty house and filled out a COA via the internet. I paid money to have it completed over th internet. I guess that’s new. Anyhow, I did the COA 10 days before the USPS said they delivered it to the old address already. So I’ve filed complaints to the USPS, and they are still backing their story as I accepted the mail. One thing is that the meds are pain killers and the if anyone other than me receives them, it is considered a felony. I’ll bet that either my neighboors got the mail in their mailboxes or that the courier took them for themselves… either way, I’ve done it the right way by filing complaints, and now if I don’t recveive my meds, I’m going to the authorities.

I aslo went to the main post office.. bunch of foreigners are working there… that’s just downright un-American… especially when I’ve read some of the previous posts about what they have done to other Americans.

Shame on you USPS, and especially you MAILMAN for arguing with these nice people… to me you are acting like an insurgent.

  30. Lark says:

mailman chris, you sound like the type of mail carrier I wish we had.

For those of you arguing the point as to whether or not the USPS is a government or private agency, it’s both (read this for more info: http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/consumerawareness/a/uspsabout.htm) and that is probably at least part of the reason why it’s so difficult to hold anyone at the agency/business accountable for poor business practices.

For those working for the USPS with low job satisfaction, I offer this – you are making wages that, at an entry level, are as good or better than those obtained by college graduates starting out in the job market. With regular employment, you are guaranteed raises that place you well above the median for wage earners in the United States. Your insurance benefits are better, so out of pocket healthcare expenses don’t even begin to compare to what the average, insured worker has to pay. Your premiums are also lower. We won’t even mention the problems of those with no insurance. You also have more job security than most of us.

Yes, your work is hard, but have you ever worked in a factory? Try sweating your balls off 12 hours a day doing physically demanding work and being under the added strain of meeting quotas. Then get paid barely above the minimum wage for your labor. There are people out there who would love to have your jobs and would probably do better out of sheer gratitude. If you don’t like what you do and are compelled to pass along your dissatisfaction to the customer, quit. There are thousands of people lined up who would be more than happy to replace you.

To those of you who have been screwed over by the USPS, please…ship with other carriers. You might pay a little more, but not having to deal with the headaches makes it worthwhile. To the good and caring USPS workers, I am sorry that you are being lumped in with the bad apples, but people tend to remember negative experiences more than positive ones. When all is said and done, I have had more good experiences than bad with the USPS, but it’s the bad experiences that make me gun-shy about using your business for anything of any importance.

  31. Lark says:

Sorry, for some reason, the link I left above does not go to the article, rather to a list.

    Here are pertinent excerpts:

The Modern Postal Service: Agency or Business?
Until adoption of the Postal Reorganization Act of 1970, the U.S. Postal Service functioned as a regular, tax-supported, agency of the federal government.

According to the laws under which it now operates, the U.S. Postal Service is a semi-independent federal agency, mandated to be revenue-neutral. That is, it is supposed to break even, not make a profit.

In 1982, U.S. postage stamps became “postal products,” rather than a form of taxation. Since then, The bulk of the cost of operating the postal system has been paid for by customers through the sale of “postal products” and services rather than taxes.

Each class of mail is also expected to cover its share of the costs, a requirement that causes the percentage rate adjustments to vary in different classes of mail, according the costs associated with the processing and delivery characteristics of each class.

According to the costs of operations, U.S. Postal Service rates are set by the Postal Regulatory Commission according to the recommendations of the Postal Board of Governors.

Look, the USPS is an Agency!
The USPS is created as a government agency under Title 39, Section 101.1 of the United States Code which states, in part:

    (a) The United States Postal Service shall be operated as a basic and fundamental service provided to the people by the Government of the United States, authorized by the Constitution, created by Act of Congress, and supported by the people. The Postal Service shall have as its basic function the obligation to provide postal services to bind the Nation together through the personal, educational, literary, and business correspondence of the people. It shall provide prompt, reliable, and efficient services to patrons in all areas and shall render postal services to all communities. The costs of establishing and maintaining the Postal Service shall not be apportioned to impair the overall value of such service to the people.

Under paragraph (d) of Title 39, Section 101.1, “Postal rates shall be established to apportion the costs of all postal operations to all users of the mail on a fair and equitable basis.”

No, the USPS is a Business!
the Postal Service takes on some several very non-governmental attributes via the powers granted to it under Title 39, Section 401, which include:

    * power to sue (and be sued) under its own name;

    * power to adopt, amend and repeal its own regulations;

    * power to “enter into and perform contracts, execute instruments, and determine the character of, and necessity for, its expenditures”;

    * power to buy, sell and lease private property; and,

    * power to build, operate, lease and maintain buildings and facilities.

All of which are typical functions and powers of a private business. However, unlike other private businesses, the Postal Service is exempt from paying federal taxes. USPS can borrow money at discounted rates, and can condemn and acquire private property under governmental rights of eminent domain.

The USPS does get some taxpayer support. Around $96 million is budgeted annually by Congress for the “Postal Service Fund.” These funds are used to compensate USPS for postage-free mailing for all legally blind persons and for mail-in election ballots sent from US citizens living overseas. A portion of the funds also pays USPS for providing address information to state and local child support enforcement agencies, and for keeping some rural posts offices in operation.

Under federal law, only the Postal Service can handle or charge postage for handling letters. Despite this virtual monopoly worth some $45 billion a year, the law does not require that the Postal Service make a profit — only break even. Still, the US Postal Service has averaged a profit of over $1 billion per year in each of the last five years. Yet, Postal Service officials argue that they must continue to raise postage at regular intervals in order make up for the increased use of email.

The USPS is run by the stupidest group of humans on the planet. I am getting a package sent through First-Class mail twice now and failed both times. The first time it was returned to sender. The second time says delivered. But who the hell was it delivered to? I’m there, nothing in mailbox, nothing at door. WTF? I bet it was delivered up his @#% because I sure haven’t seen it. Time for try #3 before I run down to the post office and raise hell like never before!!!!

  33. dlp says:

oh yes i must agree i have this letter carrier who can’t read and don’t know what the hell is going on one of my neighbor trys to give outgoing mail he stares at her and asks ” what do you want me to do with it ” take the letter/s and go about the business instead this color guy puts in the local mail box and laughs about it.He is one of the dummiest carrier i have known that’s why i have switched to on-line pay program and request ups to ship all my packages and put my mail box somewhere so that this color carrier don’t know where to put junk mails it is funny he try to look for it and gives up walks away ha ha.He tells customers that he been working for the usps for 25 yrs and he is a hardest worker nobody apraise him for the job well done infact this color guy blame asians and latinos taking jobs away from the brothers and sisters what a crock.Atleast i do not spend 2 hours talking on a cell phone and calling supervisor for a help this black lazy carrier should be fired and but what are the odds affirmative action that’s why.Only way to teach these lazy carriers is move mailbox to p.o box why if all customers convert to p.o box then lazy carriers don’t have nothing todo what go out into the street deliver what?Christmas gift for the color guy out of the question i envy my friend carrier this asian guy deliver and greet homeowners and always say thank you have a nice day for 30 years, now i know why blacks has huge chip on their shoulders. And this color guy lies too much he claims he has 12 mbz 500 sl in his 30000 sq ft home a joke.No wonder usps moral is going down.

  34. Coolman123 says:

Talk about USPS, for every three parcels I sent, they lost one of my parcel.
USPS happily accepts the money that you paid for your parcel’s insurance, but rarely honors it when they loose a package. Most of the time, they are going to sweet words (or bashing words) customers around, saying they will take another 2 weeks (or did you ship it to begin with) to look for your parcel in their facilities, hoping:
    1) you will forget
    2) your insurance will expire
When they really cannot find that possibly stolen parcel, they will try their best to void your insurance. Acts such as asking you for a proof of value, a receipt, a transaction number, a notary confirmation, a custom brokerage, etc. Basically if its an item you have lying around at home and you shipped it with insurance, you can kiss the insurance goodbye if its lost.
Finally, when they **do**, out of despair, forced to provide you with an insurance, it will take you at least 5 more visits to your local post office, numerous efforts to communicate with the post master, and half an year before the insurance check will arrive. If the check is lost during shipping, good luck ;-) .
P.S. On the plus side, you will become familiar with everyone in your local post office. But this will do absolutely nothing to improve their service or efficiency.

I hate em too. Just today I was sitting in my room, I look outside and I see one getting back into the truck and put stuff in my box… What was it? A sorry we missed you notice. They did not ring my door bell, and also on the notice, they did not tell who the package was for just J.____\. Me and two others all have names that begin with a J and same last name in my house. So if we wanted to pick it up, we would probally all have to go just incase!

  36. Lostzen says:

I am a hater of USPS too. The “sorry we missed you” notice comes always as the previous post explains: they don´t miss you, they just don´t ring your bell!
Also, for packages that are not signed up for signature, once one of those gets lost by the carrier or put into the wrong mailbox of a dishonest neighbor…no matter how many complaints you file or investigation cases USPS will open, your package will never simply appear again. Of course, they will not even take the responsability to say that they are sorry for that.
Finally, about the full mailboxes…In my case, they fill it more than they should, so that the envelopes at the bottom fall back through the hole that separates them from the pannel of the mail room when you try to pull out the mail. Once there, it is just like they enter into a black hole, as the carrier never puts them back the day after…”Gone, baby gone”.
Another proof that they badly squeeze envelopes in when you´re e.g. on holidays is that sometimes the floor around the mailboxes is covered in correspondence that has fallen from some of the mailboxes visibly too full.
Yeap, altogether they simply and truly suck!!

  37. brandon says:

i fucking hate usps priority mail. It took me days of searching to find an article written by a usps driver that finally revealed that the 2-3 day shipping is really an estimate not a promise. What kind of bull shit is that? I don’t know any other delivery services that estimate their delivery. However I’m sure there are some. I have not read one single good reviews from these bastards I’m bout to “go postal” on them lol actually I’m quite surprised no body has!

  38. Julie in Carmel says:

I just got a parcel post package that was mailed from Ramsey, Illinois on 10/15/09. It was sent to my home in Carmel Indiana. I received it today 10/28/09. 13 days to deliver something that went just 200 miles is ridiculous. No wonder USPS is going bankrupt.

Donkey mail would have been faster. I could walk back and forth from Ramsey to Carmel several times in the 13 days that it took them to deliver this package.

    The USPS sucks.

  39. Paul says:

The USPS is a god-awful organization. The following have happened to me in the last year:

    1) A rather large box was sent to me. All I got was the top of the box in a “Sorry, looks like your mail got damaged!” bag. Yeah, apparently. Called up their lost/claim department. No results. 1800ASKUSPS is an absolute joke! They told me that a sorting machine likely broke open the box. What kind of sorting machine breaks apart a triple-corrugated box?

    2) I had a temporary mail forwarding request. I called up my home post office to cancel it and they told me to just create a new forwarding order that would reverse the old one. I did (cost me $1). The two post offices spent three weeks “forwarding warring.” I finally got my mail, with 20+ forward tags on each letter.

    3) I had a PO box for a time. Like many people, I had it because I wanted a secure place to keep my mail between infrequent checks. Every week they would stuff my box with Weekly Shoppers, car ads, etc. Addressed to “Box Holder.” They started refusing my REAL mail because they had stuffed the box with crap. I told them that I wanted to opt-out of the junk and they said that wasn’t an option.

    4) A substitute letter carrier delivered my mail to another person and visa versa.

    5) Ten of those “Sorry We Missed You!” notices, when someone was home each time.

USPS can rot in hell! I hope they don’t start running our health care!

  40. chrisc says:

I agree. They are so damn slow and the boxes come looking like they got the hell beat out of them. Why is it that UPS and FEDEX can ship quickly and the boxes are in good condition but USPS can’t? Their tracking online also stinks. Supposedly priority mail should show a date/time sent and date/time the PO received it. It hardly ever says when it is received so I have to go check my mail everyday and it’s there I pick it up and the website still says it’s in route. And no USPS is not a free service. We are military living overseas and the base gives us no choice but to use the USPS…they won’t allow delivery via FEDEX or UPS, which is a shame. USPS charges so much for delivery yet they are so slow. I bought 4 clothing items online and had to pay $13 for shipping…..one month later and my package is still not here. Back in the states I only used UPS or FEDEX when I had a choice.

  41. Beam says:

F**K USPS!! I’VE WAITED 1 WEEK AND 3 DAYS FOR THE F**KING PRIORITY MAIL WHEN ITS SAYS THAT IT WILL BE DELIEVERED WITHIN 2-3 F**KIN DAYS!!! I WILL NEVER EVER USE USPS EVER AGAIN IN MY F**KING LIFE!!!!

  42. Josh says:

Just paid a whopping $30 for “Express” shipping of a normal package. 1) they took much longer than promised (for that price it was supposed to be overnight), 2) those dickbags didn’t even bother to come up to my office and just left a “Sorry we missed you” notice in the basement, 3) now I have to go drive to the post office far away if I even want to pick up my package in time.

I sincerely hope they all have a horrible Christmas alone with their crappy customer service and their stupid blue shorts. I won’t be purchasing anything that requires USPS any more – UPS only.

  43. Rick says:

LOUSY… I used Express Mail (Guaranteed Overnight my ass)…

I took it to Post Office (slightly closer than the Fedex locationfor me) 5.30pm Thursday (they said it will be delivered by Noon on Friday). They ‘misplaced’ it on Thursday/Friday & delivered a ‘Notice for Re-delivery/pickup’ on Saturday!!! The recipient (I can’t authorize re-delivery according to USPS rep) has to call for re-delivery.

If the mail carrier has left BEFORE the call for re-delivery on Monday, then next delivery slot is Tuesday! So my overnight package takes 5 days!

Fedex allows drop-offs until 7pm. I wish I had used them coz it was only 41cents (yes, only 41 cents) more but they are much better at deliveries. And will re-deliver without being asked to!

  44. The Postman says:

I work for the USPS and I agree with you totally! The USPS sucks. I have little faith in anything called service unless it’s lip service at which they in charge are good at.The job has gone from bad to worse in the last 6 years. The customer is never considered…mail is left to grow mold on the floor so they can make their numbers and bonuses. The carrier is not to blame…he is powerless against these assholes running the show. There needs to be a national outcry from the public to congress to truly bring about change…contact the postmasters and if it doesn’t work go higher until you get someone who will take action. You and the mailers pay for a service…make sure that you get what you paid for.

  45. Jed says:

USPS is god awful. How many usps workers does it take to deliver a package? None cause none of them can figure out where it goes to. USPS is the reason why I have almost given up on online shopping due to the reason of packages never arriving. If I shop online I use UPS or Fed EX. Both have great customer service. I never once have to file a claim with either of them. I quit shopping on ebay not because the sellers but because of USPS. Nothing is guaranteed thru USPS. The only thing that is guaranteed is that you will end up getting some lazy workers who don’t care about their job. Its even pointless filing a complaint also since they are a government agency. Its got so bad over here that I even pay all my bills online. Somebody needs to take charge and come out with a non-government mail system. Do not use USPS at all costs. Let them lose their jobs. They don’t care about them anyways…

  46. caster says:

If you read up about the 15 year ex usps employee i think we all can learn a lot from that guy. USPS doesnt give a shit and that is the bottom line. If you dont want to be at risk “everytime” you ship an item dont use them anymore. I will now only use ups or fedex or dhl because of the fact that i paid 34$ for a 2day delivery that took 16 days to get to my customer along with it having insurance and delivery confirmation it still took this long. Another friendly tip about the past master at your local post office, if you want your p.o to run more efficiently and you think they are doing a shit job then contact 1800askusps and put in a complaint about that crazy bitch running the place.

    ROLL TIDE

  47. Jim says:

USPS in my area are the laziest sons of bitches I have ever seen. 3 tp 5% of the mail that they put in my box is not even for my address. I had to go to FOUR USPS offices today to try and exchange some IRC coupons that were about to expire. Some had no clue what they were. Others didn’t have any. Two had them, but didn’t know how to handle them AND were unable to obtain the Postal Bulletin that informs them how do do the exchange… I even gave them the PB number and page numbers…. I knew more about their own product than they did! And we are in the busy USPS time of the year. Were there any managers on site to assist in my problem? NO! They all left early for the day….

USPS should be phased out over the next 7 years. They serve no purpose that can’t be handled some other way.

  48. Jim says:

Every USPS employee can take their hat and crap in it. I hope everyone one of them is fired and in the unemployment line by Christmas. Scum sucking of society, nothing more.

  49. USPS Worker says:

Screw all of you. It’s my job to make your life Hell.

  50. USPS Worker says:

    Jim,

Who in the Hell uses IRCs anymore? Give the third party your credit card number and be done with it.

    Loser…
