Yeah, they suck BAD. My mailman is a jerk, too.
I’ve filed yet another complaint. So, aside from the complaint I just filed, my complaints include theft of property (believe it or not, he stole my beatup and battered US flag that was rusted into the mount– I complained, and the next day it was back, rolled up neatly, on the side of my house), harrassing my pets (knocking on the glass to make my cat run from the door– we saw it from the kitchen), and improper delivery procedures (received first and last notice on Jan 16th to pickup Christmas gift containing food items sent on Dec 5). He makes us go to the post office for every single priority mail package we get– no matter how small.
I’m sick of these jerks. I’m about ready to remove my mailbox from my door and put in a forwarding to my post office box.

I’ve had the complete opposite reaction with USPS at least here in San Francisco. We send out huge bulk via USPS and FedEX. We’ve never had a negative experience with USPS, the packages are always delivered earlier then expected and undamanged. This is the same with FedEX. USPS is cheap too so you can’t really complain.
UPS (United Parcel Service [Big Brown]) is horrible. I don’t think we’ve ever gotten a package that hasn’t been so beat up it looks like a wild animal used it as its toy. The packages are always crushed and the guy left a $600 phone between the door? wtF?

Where did you google that one? Do these other private companies put away over 5 billion a year in a trust fund for the government to use for civil service retirees? I didn’t think so.
Private industries raise their prices as they see fit. USPS has to go thru alot of red tape just to get approval to raise the price a few pennies, yet the government does not fund the USPS and has not funded the USPS since the early 1970’s. Do you really believe there would be a private industry that would deliver mail door to door, every single address in the USA at the price of 44 cents a letter? Are you kidding me? They would go broke!
I am sure you are much smarter than I, but I was merely stating that the negativity of people is very contagious and it is too bad that you decided to have a blog that feeds into that. You still did not answer any of the questions in my above post, which I believe may bring some positive to your blog – but then again – it is YOUR BLOG MIKE!
Our mailman is awful. We used to have a mailman named Mike who was sweet and amicable and always cheerful and would stop for a few seconds to ask you how you were. Our mail was always delivered by the afternoon and always in perfect condition. AND he would go out of his way all of the time for everyone on the block. He retired a few years ago and after going through a string of unremarkable mailmen, we’ve finally been stuck with the biggest jerk in history. Our mail never gets to our box before six pm, at the earliest. Insult to injury, though, he parks his little mail truck on the corner around three and sits and reads the paper and snacks. Then, when he finally does deliver the mail, he does a disgustingly terrible job of it. I’ve seen him on more than one occasion THROW packages. We live in an older part of L.A. with a lot of turn-of-the-century houses, so most of them are built on a higher level than the sidewalk, with one or more flights of cement stairs up to the house. All of the houses have fences and gates. Our house has two flights of stairs to the door with a landing between. I stood at the window and watched him fling a package from the sidewalk over the gate and up to the second flight of (CEMENT) stairs, where it hit, bounced off, and rolled over the concrete landing and into the dirt/grass. He walked off. The package turned out to be my elderly aunt’s diabetes supplies, of which, luckily, only a syringe was damaged. It doesn’t stop there, though. I’ve found my mail in puddles of water on the sidewalk that I can only assume he made no effort at even putting into the mailbox. My neighbors have had cell phones, digital cameras, and ipods damaged from his fling-happy throwing method. We’ve complained about him, and yet he’s still our mailman. And he does harass our dog. She’s old and fat and mostly lays in the grass in our yard, rarely paying attention to passers by, and still he harasses and attempts to scare her. I hate our mailman.
Perhaps it would be more on the mark to say the USPS stinks at package delivery? I’ve had two packages lost in the past 8 months. The last of which was a $2700 saddle-delivered to the wrong house, no less. I was beyond angry. I was disgusted. After speaking with three different supervisors, I got the distinct impression that there is not much in the manner of accountability for their carriers. I like the fact that UPS logs the GPS coordinates of where a packaged is delivered once the little digital tablet is signed. All the post office could do was shrug their shoulders. Of course the carrier had no recollection of where she delivered a massive box just the week before. I agree with ladydi in that that the USPS provides a vital service to our country, but there is much, much room for improvement. As in many cases, it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to understand such strong negative feelings that many people may harbor unless you’ve been at the receiving end of such a gross, irresponsible failure.
And no, the recipient of my lovely Bates Caprilli did not return my package.
I’ve had good and bad experiences with the USPS, it seems to depend on the postal carrier that services the house. I think the USPS needs to hirer a consulting firm to reorganize their system, especially were parcel services are concerned. There a are a lot of simple things they could do be more competitive with UPS and FedEx such as more automated machines, larger collection depositories for boxes. This alone would probably get rid of the line going out the door at most offices. There usually seems to be a long line to see a live person during business hours. The one automated machine often has a line because there is only one and the person using it at the front reads every screen as if it were a life and death decision. To complicate the matter, the collection bin for boxes dropped of after hours is only 12″ wide and often full, WTF. Now one has bought postage and has to spend more fuel and time to come back later just to drop it off.
You know, USPS SUCKS REALLY REALLY BAD! Just because they think they’re part of the government, they do what ever the hell they please. I’ve been waiting for my package to arrive almost a month, and it was supposed to be delivered within 2 days? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!? I PAID FOR NEXT DAY DELIVERY AND ITS BEEN 3 FAWKING WEEKS!
I love the way UPS does their tracking. If you get a tracking number for USPS, it tells almost nothing. I am waiting for a package from Wisconsin. When I track the package they say it’s in Anchorage, Alaska. Well, how understandable is that when I’m in South Florida?
My UPS guy is here at least three or four times a week. I buy a lot through Amazon and I’m a Prime customer. My purchases get here in two days without fail. Never had any issues with anything damaged either.

see the link and check what i mean, usps doesn’t have place for complaints in there, also… isn’t that ironic ? the web site is so pack up of green adds so so green that they delivery hundreds of adds, promotions, commertials and more junk that we haul to trash bin every day… Of course they would say “is not our bussiness”, I sent and email the other day to stop this, they just ignored it, may be i will collect all the junk and deliver it back to them,… Ho talking about that I stop to check my mail box for a time cus of the junk, u know what they did?, they just shutdown my mailbox, I live in a complex and they say they didn’t have idea on what happened, I’m paying my rent month by month and they assumed nobody was living there so they just shut it down cus of course their important junk of commertials and adds didn’t fit in there any more cus it was full… I almost lost my DL that i was expecting those days…

I used USPS to send a package to my girlfriend who lives in Canada about a month ago and she still hasn’t received it… I live in California. I’m really worried because I put like 20+ hours of work into that package…so much heart. It sucks if they lost it. I AM NEVER USING THE USPS AGAIN!
Paid for Priority mail and ??? they can’t even find the package. I guess someone else got it The tracking is a joke and when I called them they said give it another week and if it still is not there call us back ??????? LAST TIME I USE USPS THEY SUCK!!!!!!!
I don’t have much problem with our letter carrier. It’s the inside people that suck at our post office. The other day I went to mail a small package that I wanted to insure. I used a USPS flat rate box that was self sealing. The clerk told me I had to tape the box better if I was going to insure it. While she was trying to sell me packaging tape I was looking at a tape dispenser right next to her. I ask if she could spare 10″ of tape. She said they couldn’t provide tape. WTF happened to customer service. I put my item in a different box and sent it UPS.
Down here in Atlanta, the USPS workers do as little work as they can without getting fired. At the local post office (30318), there are always long lines and one worker at the desk. However, EVERY TIME you can hear multiple people laughing in the back area and music playing. Once in a while someone else will poke their head out, look at the long lines, then shuffle some boxes and return to the back. Its sickening, non-governmental workers would be disciplined and fired immediately exhibiting that kind of work ethic.
Also, we never get packages delivered to us, apparently its much easier to leave a note and make us pick it up. Isn’t that the opposite of what ‘package delivery’ is supposed to be? They never even attempt to deliver it, lazy b@st@rds.
F-U-K the USPS! Bring back the Pony Express!
The existence of Fedex and UPS is proof itself that the USPS is no good. Does it suck all the time? Of course not, but it says a lot when two private companies start from nothing and become multi million dollar industries verses a long standing government institution like the USPS.
I’m in Vegas and it sucks ass!!!I got a peach slip and said that a deleivery attempt was made and i know it didn’t because I was home the whole time untill I check my mailbox. These ass wipe postman can be so freakin LAZY.
You’re lucky. Our post office sucks so bad, they won’t deliver anything bigger then an envelope. just give you one of those orange papers and tell you to come pick up your package. I complained about them once and the answer to my complain was they withholding all my mail for a week and then when i called they told me “We have your mail, anytime you want to pick it up.”
Yes the USPS delivery sucks. One major issue at my house is the jerk never knocking on the door when he has a package requiring signature. He comes to the door with the pick up notice completed and drops it in my box without ever checking to see if I’m even home to accept it. Then I get the pleasure of waiting or delivery and driving to the post office to get my merchandise. I have this on video tape three times for any doubters.
Second is the constant delivering to the wrong address and i get other peoples mail and packages, addressed to other locations, at least once a week.
the real pisser is how they recently took a package with zip code and sent it five states over then stamped it undeliverable.
Now you don’t follow their goof-ball regulations to the letter and they will jerk you around all day. Ask them to follow them and you are in for trouble.

I’m with you. The US Postal service sucks!!! For many years I had a great postman servicing my business. Nice friendly guy. We used to play gold once in a while. Then they changed the route! Complained business wasn’t getting mail until after 4 pm. Told them I was losing production time, banking days etc. What reply to I get? We don’t guarantee delivery time! I ask if there was any consideration for businesses. I see the mail truck deliver to homes on the street before noon and turn around 2 doors down from my business.
The post offices answer-get a P.O. Box. Anything not to do their work. What a bunch of lazy bums!

System itself is fine… it’s just that 99.99% of postal workers are lazy, stupid, incompetent, bitter, vindictive loser assholes!!! None of can verify they deliver anything. May e some of them incinerate random bags e ery month???
Our PO for our business is the absolute worst. We actually had a good mail carrier who would always be here around 10:30-11:00 each day, but she recently retired, and we’ve found out that they’ve now deleted our route and we are now basically being delivered by whoever is available after finishing their regular route. It’s now 4:25, and our mail is not here yet. Can’t wait for when the Xmas season starts.
Also, at least six times this year we’ve gone online to request package pickup at our front door, and the carrier never shows up. The worst part, we receive an email confirming that our package was picked up. Have sent numerous complaints, and always get “We’re sorry, yada yada yada”.
The USPS can go to hell. I hope they collapse.
Get what you pay for my ass. I payed 20$ for express mail (GAURANTEED NEXT DAY WITH TRACKING.) well turns out when you track it no information is given other than the shipper has shipped the mail. And it has been FOUR days with no delivery. USPS BLOWS. This is the worst excuse for a company ever created

my mail guy doesnt show up on random saturdays, also doesnt deliver if there is snow near tthe mailbox, wich is by the roadside. today he drove by myhouse while i was standing at the curb. I called the postmaster to complain. he asked if I had shovled all of the snow near the mailbox away. I told him yees and that at most the mailman would have had to stretch a bit. The postmaster replied ” he is not required to stretch” omg… I said starting tomorrow I would be filming the postman not doing his job. to that he replied “I already have your name and number, if you film him I will call the police and have you arrested”.. what a nasty jerk..

We used to have an awesome mailman, but he retired last year. His replacement has been a flaming asshole almost since day one, and more recently he’s gotten dangerously close to costing me money. Simply put, I’m not getting bills until 5 to 7 days before they’re due. If you’ve ever made a late credit card payment, then you’re fully aware of my problem. I went to the local post office to file a formal complaint, but thus far nothing has changed. I addition to this particular problem, this guy constantly damages mail, and puts other people’s mail in my box. And just last summer, there was a certified letter that I needed to sign for. He saw me working in my garage (less than 50 feet from the box), but as I approached him, he closed the mailbox and drove off. In the mailbox, I found the form telling me that I would have to drive down to the main post office to sign for the letter. Yeah, this guy’s a full blown asshole. He has an easy route too, because I’m in a semi-rural area where the houses are about 100 feet apart. Even the mailman who retired told me that it was a “cake” route. Thus, there’s no excuse for this clown’s unprofessional bullshit. And if he causes me a late payment penalty on a bill, I sure as hell won’t be the one paying it. It’s no wonder the postal service is on it’s way to becoming non-existent.
Where do I start? Let’s just say using them is a lottery. I either don’t receive mail or mail I post never reaches its destination. I’d be better off burning my cash than giving to those inept losers who would be out of their depth in a paddling pool. And they wonder why they’re going out of business.
I have had major problems getting pink/orange slips in my mailbox and the guy won’t leavei t outside my apt door but he barely checks if i’m home. I am never home during the day because i actually have a JOB. so sometimes he forgets to give me the pink slip, i get a message from amazon sayings delivery was attempted and notice given. I go to the post office and the bitchy ladies that work there have a huge attitude and wouldn’t even check for the package in the back. How do I get my package without the slip and i know it’s there? Crazy! I have to go out of my way to the post office in the first place.
think that sucks try being stationed over seas waited over 2 months for a book to be delivered, if thats not bad enough their is no other option to use we complain they don’t care.
OMG I HATE USPS WHERE DO I BEGIN?!?!?! I mailed out two VERY important packages last month, one to a town an hour outside of London and one to Sofia Bulgaria. I tried to get a tracking number and the lady refused to let me “purchase” one as you supposedly cant track it after it leaves New York. It is now officially a month after I shipped them out and they have still not arrived. I shipped a package to Canada week before this last week and it has still not arrived. I spoke to the customer service rep and she said if I used the word “hell” again she would hang up on me. I threatened her with a lawsuit and made her shut her piehole. I am now giving my business to UPS or FEDEX. I rather use a carrier pigeon then use USPS again…SCREW USPS

FIRST THING, I DID EVERYTHING EXACTLY BY THE BOOK….NOW I HAD LIVED AT MY RELATIVES ADDRESS FOR A VERY,VERY SHORT TIME…(THIS COMES INTO PLAY IN A MOMENT)…….I USED MY CREDIT CARD LISTED AND RECEIVED AT THAT ADDRESS TO PAY THE FEE TO OFFICIALLY PUT THE FORWARD ORDER IN PLACE, AND TO BE POSITIVE I SENT IT TO THEM BY MAIL AND CONFIRMED, AND OF COURSE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH MY VERY CLOSE RELEATIVE.
SO, FIRST THING THEY DID INSTEAD OF FORWARDING THE VERY FIRST 7 ITEMS, THEY SCANNED THEM , SAYS DELIVERED……..WE NEVER GOT THEM, FEW HINDRED DOLLARS DOWN THE SHITTER…..THANKS “USPS”….

My mailperson is far too fat to get out of her specially made Mail Jeep, so she SHOVES packages into the box. I guess she figures if it fits IN, I can get my fingers in there and pull it OUT. Not to mention that some days they don’t come by. I put the flag up so I can send mail, but they just ignore it and don’t come by. I have to go to the post office to mail any letters.
I also receive mail from people in other TOWNS as well. I wonder how many letters I’ve had lost to people in other towns…

I HATE HATE HATE THEM!!!! They always deliver to me, but really, these ppl test my patience too much. They have to take so f!@#ing long?!?!? I ordered two movies from walmart.com, they were supposed to deliver it yesterday, and still nothing. It’s been out for delivery, since 9 in the f!@#ing morning in my area, you would they could have delivered it like a few hours earlier!!!!!! My mailman visited the door the other day. He indicated (to my mother in law who was home watching our baby) that he would not deliver our mail because there was a dead raccoon (roadkill) in from of the mailbox. The critter showed up as roadkill while I was at work and I did not have time to remove it. Our mailbox is directly off a major road and the mailman simply drives a mail truck around daily and stops at each mailbox to drop off mail. The interesting part is the mailman took the time to park in our driveway and visit our door to tell us he could not deliver the mail. He could have simply parked 5 yards past the mailbox and walked the mail to the box. In my opinion, this guy is just being lazy and created unneeded problems. I was discussing this with friends the other day and here is our solution to any future roadkill problems:
I will take the time to actually move my mailbox 10 yards from the roadkill and this should alleviate any of the roadkill obstruction. Hopefully this pisses off the email in a sarcastic way and it will surely help me sleep better at night. Hopefully your blog allows photos in the future because I did take a picture of the roadkill and I think it would add more substance to my story
Try doing an inquiry on an international money order and see how you feel about the postal service then. You must wait 60 days before filing then up to 60 days for a response. The f**ked up part is they would not even tell me that an inquiry could take that long when I was in the post office. I asked how long the inquiry would take and they acted like I was speaking Klingon or something and sidestepped the question, but had no problem telling me it would be $5.40 . Shouldn’t an inquiry just be a matter of punching a few numbers into the computer? It is no wonder the postal service is in such bad shape financially, they are about as inefficient as they could possibly be.
They absolutely suck. I’ve been waiting for a package that was sent three weeks ago, Priority Mail. FOR SOME REASON, when I track the package it says it’s in another state which baffles me because it shouldn’t be in another state, it should be in MY state in MY house already. Three weeks! I’ve gone to make the complaint and supposedly they’ve fixed the problem and it’ll be coming to me, but it’s been five days since they promised me this and still nothing.
USPS use to be the best. The past three years have been horrible. I have documented actual thefts from within the postal service. Two years ago I sent two packages to two diffent people in two different states from the same post office on the same day. About three days later both packages arrived and both were completely empty and re-taped back together. USPS said I was out of luck unless I laid for insurance. Insurance should cover accidents or theft after they deliver it, not having to insure from theft while they had it!
I sent someone a large package after that. Two weeks later they said they never got it. Turns out the package was sitting in their local post office misplaced. Refund for delivery? Nope. Essentially I paid for three day delivery which took two weeks.
Last year we ordered a watch online. Days later it finally arrived according to their website. We looked all over but it was not in the mailbox or on our front porch. I called USPS and got an attitude. They called me back and said to check my garbage can. The delivery man put it on top of our garbage can. WTF?
My father took his tax forms to the post office for delivery last year. Very time sensitive material and it had to be post marked showing it was sent in time. Being that the envelope was heavier than normal, he had the lady behind the counter weigh it and paid her to have the proper postage applied. (Saved his receipt) She took it from there and sent it out. Three days later he gets it back in the mail marked insufficient postage. Needless to say the tax documents were received late and USPS was not accountable for yet another mistake.
Just last week I was waiting for a package. The day their website said it was out for delivery came we waited all day. USPS mailman handed my wife the regular mail but no package. 12 hours later their website still said it was out for delivery so I called their 1800 number. Per their customer service the mailman reported that he left a delivery notice at our home. After advising her the mailman hand delivered our mail and never once said he had a package she said maybe he didnt want to lug the big package around. WTF Seriously??
Last week I had another package delivered after it was misdelievered to someone else in another state.
I’m amazed and I’m just a regular person. I wonder how many problems people have who use USPS for business delivery. I give USPS ten years before they can’t afford to stay open.
Just like everyone else here I am very disgruntled with the operation of the US Post Office. I live in a rural area which is not too far out of the way for some of these lazy bastards. But alas I am one of the masses involved with the eternal screwing of the general public by the USPS. Had a package delivered 2 day priority mail from Arizona to Virginia. Tracking web site (useless tool) stated it was delivered to my home, now 10 days later no package. The post office workers (also useless tools) have not recollection of anything to my address and will not do anything to compensate.
I am truly hoping they will go out of business or hire an outside govt assistant to pull their heads out of their a$$!!!!!
Of course I have a story — incorrect tracking info, no notice, package missing, etc, etc. No worse than anyone else. The only justice here is that USPS will go out of business and all the passive agressive jerks will have to get a job with low pay because who would really hire them?? Unfortunately, there are also good people who will suffer. But they should be pressuring from within if they really value their jobs.

usps sucks d!@k i orderd a item from ebay and it said it was delivered on june 7th and now its june 10th so i called usps and i had to file a claim and they said i had to wait 2-3 buissnes days for them to get back to me well WTF cant they just deliver the package to the right house i mean usps is pretty sh!@$y i u ask me
USPS is a total joke all they do is lose and damage your packages. People need to quit using their shotty services and let them finish going bankrupt.
I’ve watched my package sit at the Stamford CT post office for 2 days now as I have ordered something from Amazon. I WONDER WHEN they will carry it the 500 ft to my house? The level of incompetence is staggering. They also never delivered baby bottles but recorded them as delivered. It hours on and on and on…..I love issuing their express service because it always Edna up being free because the packages never get delivered on time.
We used to live in a small rural town about 10 miles away from my in-laws. Our mail used to show u in their box and visa versa. When we complained the idiot said “Well you both have the same last name, maybe that is how it happened” Unbelievable. I feel sorry for the SMITHS!!

Fu*k USPS I’m tired of there sh*t every time I order online to get a package sent to my house the sender uses USPS why I have no clue half the time I don’t even get yet again today it said delivered at 12 and yet it is now 5 and still got nothing. I called USPS and they made a tag wtf is a tag and what are they gonna do about it. How can you mark it as delivered and it actually be. If a sender uses USPS I’m not ordering any products threw them. I’m don’t trust them and don’t get it. I will ALWAYS use fedex or ups I can’t do this USPS shi*t any more. Sucks because it is always you’re word VS there’s why would I waist my time and effort to get something fixed about a 2$ item I ordered if I didn’t get. Because it is the principle about the item not being received when it is showing delivered on tracking but not. FU*K USPS and all there services. They also need to acutely type in the address in a computer when delivering and say exactly where they placed it. So when you complain of not getting it it shows more then delivered then the city or county. It should say left by plant barrel or by black storm door. That way if they say left by storm door om the pc and you don’t have a storm you can proof that it was the wrong house because you don’t a storm door. I think there should be more involved then just delivered.
I have to agree with mike, usps realy sucks. Befor, they were just annoying, lines out the door at the post office wile the postal workers show no sence of urgancy. But now im mad. i live in alaska and work in north dakota. During off hours a few days ago my glasses got broken. I called my boss and told him that i cant come to work untill my wife sends my spare pair, but assured him that i wouldnt be out long because my wife is sending them usps over night. Well its been three days and no glasses, my boss told me if i cant make it to work then he has no need for me. I know it’s not usps fault I broke my glasses, but over night should mean over night. Do you think theyll care if I lose my job? I doubt they even know what losing a job is like because theres is so secure (regardless of how poor they do it). goverment pay and benifits, no expectation of preformance, job security, Mabey if I lose my job I’ll apply with the post office.
This hit the nail right on the head… Everyone saying that no other private company would deliver a package for 44 cent is out of their mind… Did you ever try calling usps because of a missing package LOL good luck. I own a business and alot of my vendors use USPS and I hate it. I either get my packages late or not at all and then I have to jump through loops to find out what happen to it. Not my problem how much a package is to ship it is my problem when I dont get the package… They need to be more responsible with the packages people send instead of giving them the cold shoulder. If it wasnt for people sending and receiving these packages they wouldnt be in business…So dont talk about how cheap it is to send something, that doesnt excuse the lack of responsibility for sending a package…
